Finding Value in Failure

Don't be discouraged

Finding Value in Failure. When I read this it reminds me of myself and other entrepreneurs I have coached along the way. There are times when we come up with what we think is a really great idea. We know we would use that product or service and we are sure that throngs of other people would as well.

Sometimes we hit a bump in the road and sometimes it is a brick wall. We all react differently. You might be the kind of person that looks at it and says, “Not a problem. I just need to make a few adjustments.” Or you might be the type of person who says, “ What in the world was I thinking? Of course this would never work! What a dumb idea!” Or you might be that person who says, “Maybe not this idea but I’m not giving up!”

History is filled with entrepreneurs who tried and failed. Many of them tried and failed many times. The real lesson comes from those who tried and failed  at launching their idea but kept trying until they found the right idea. They found the “right key” to their success.

For many of us we have an never-ending supply of great ideas. Some might never make it off the launch pad and some will go on to be life-changing for us.

The moral of the story is this: it’s not uncommon or wrong to feel discouragement when you have tried and failed. The value comes in moving beyond the discouragement and finding the lesson to be learned.
